Otherkin Tarot

NZ$64.00

I like to see tarot decks that bring a unique take to the tarot system. This one does this deliberately and fully - and this may not be to everyone’s liking. It brings seemingly unusual combinations of concepts to the fore - creating creatures and concepts that may challenge our ‘normal’ sensibilities. But if you try to see these symbols as ways of providing intuitive messages to you via the cards, they can really speak to you - push your boundaries when it comes to how you interpret the cards, and provide opportunities to expand and evolve your readings beyond your current limits.

Of course, I also love Siolo Thompson’s art so there is that (ha ha!), but this deck feels special somehow, like a strange but secret world we’re diving into. Very ‘fairy tale’ and myth-like. Magical.

This box set is wonderful - a great set of cards that are easy to shuffle and use (and robust enough to take a lot of use), and an absolutely wonderful guidebook that can help you to interpret and make sense of any cards that may initially surprise or confuse you. This deck will take you on a journey - if you’re open and willing to come along!

From the deck box:

Discover a World Both Strange & Familiar … Both Other & Kin

From the creator of the bestselling Linestrider Tarot comes a deck filled with marvelous beings who inhabit the liminal space between myth and fact, human and animal. A lion with the body of a man sits on the Emperor's throne, a sagacious owl acts as Hierophant, and frogs and foxes take on human garb.

This Rider-Waite-Smith based deck and companion book bring tarot’s deep symbolism into new light through fanciful illustrations, originally created with hand-ground natural pigments on handmade paper. Suitable for beginners or advanced practitioners, the Otherkin Tarot wants to travel and be left out in the moonlight. It's a deck that improves with every use.
