Surround yourself with magic

I have been a big fan of decks made by James R Eads for a long time - and this deck is a homage of sorts - combining both the Prisma Visions and Cosma Visions in one deck using lenticular printing. What an absolute treat!

The deck comes in a larger box that splits the deck into two piles with a large guidebook which fits in the box - the guidebook is thin but it covers every card meaning impressively. One little thing to be aware of - the cards can bend a little in this box set up - so if you want your cards to stay ‘flat’, you might want to explore other storage options for these special cards.

Each card arrives covered in a thin film which you can peel off (otherwise the cards end up creating a huge/thick deck and are impossible to shuffle altogether) - the peeling process is a great way to familiarise with each card.

I find the lenticular printing used for this particular deck is of such high quality - probably the best example of lenticular printing I have seen so far - and the illustrations and how they transition between images is soooooo good!

I have done my best to take photos of some of the cards showing both images together - it is really hard to photograph these cards to show them at their best, so be aware that sometimes the quality isn’t the best in the photos, but the cards in your hands will be perfect!

If this is your first introduction to a James R Eads deck, lucky you - two decks in one and a unique, tactile and beautiful experience from the first time you pick up the deck. This is definitely a ‘wow’ deck that would be a great addition to any divination deck collection - woohoo!

Before I start, I’ll release a satisfactory sigh at how talented and amazing the creators (Blaire and Brit) of the Threads of Fate series of decks are. Honestly - every deck I’ve used that they have created has never ever disappointed. There is a certain feeling that comes with using their decks - something unique, special but relevant to the times. And yet there is a thread that exists through all of them so you know they all have grown from the same place. So thoughtful and yet next level articulate (and impactful). I love their decks so much.

When I first received the Sunstone deck, I loved the box design but when I saw the cards, and their very bright colours and intensity, I wasn’t sure and I put the deck away for another time (I do this sometimes with decks - I’m not always in the right headspace for every deck every minute of the day). When I did finally spend time with this deck, I was impressed. There are many decks out there that are based on runes, but this is probably the first deck I’ve picked up that really brings a relatable feel to the rune meanings. When you provide interpretations for symbols or card meanings that have been around for a long time, it can be hard to bring a unique or modern flavour to them - this deck absolutely has that ‘new wave’ feel. The guidebook is exquisite and uses poetry, art descriptions and card interpretations to give you a holistic view of what the card/rune could mean to you. There are extra cards included in the deck which are a good fit - as a crystal girlie, I love that they included a calcite crystal on the Sunstone card - it made me pull out my fav optical calcite crystals and admire them with a new perspective. And the backs of the cards - so cool - kaleidoscope vibes - it reminded me of being fascinated with kaleidoscopes when I was growing up. The changing colours, an appreciation of them and discovering what was meaningful, what resonated. The cards in this deck feel like this too.

This deck is superb - plays well with other decks and brings a fresh flavour and intensity to any reading you use them in. A great ‘New Year’ deck to use!

Our story with the Runes: 
The Runes have been a deck we've wanted to tackle since the beginning of Threads of Fate. In fact, our name comes from Norse myth too! While The Fates and the threads of fate are found in myths across many cultures, ours is in honor of the Norns. 'Norn' is said to derive from a word meaning "to weave", as in, to weave the threads of fate. 

We both have based much of our practice on our ancestral heritage. Blaire was initiated into Seiðr (a Norse shamanic or magical practice) in 2016 and has since made the northern mystery traditions a part of her self studies. 

The Runes have been a part of our personal practices as well as our business practices. During any rituals or planning we do, the Runes always provide a container for our work. 

As we turned our focus to this deck, we really focused on what the Runes are to us, particularly in a visual way. The vast majority of visuals we see regarding the Northern mystery traditions are presented in similar ways: we see rich but dark colors, deep greens and blues, cloudy skies, earth tones and very Pagan depictions. While we love these, the Runes are also expansive, creative and saturated in life, which we wanted to show without limit. 

As you can see in the samples being printed, Brit brought forth a lot of color, movement and trippy effects which are indicative of how much the Runes can shapeshift...how they each have an arc in their story but certainly the face they present can change dramatically depending on the inquiry and the seeker.

I’m a water sign kinda gal, so anything blue draws me in - crystals, book covers, and of course, decks. But this one did not make itself known to me until one of my wonderful customers mentioned it. And what an absolute stunner this deck is.

The guidebook mentions that this is ‘a dreamy, meditative and moody deck’ - and hallelujah, yes, this describes it perfectly. And I love having all of these elements in a deck!

The deck images are created using a photographic printing process called ‘cyanotype’ - I’m not going to pretend that I know what this is, but the result is fascinating. However, if you’re wanting definitive imagery or a clear picture of what the card means, you may need to change your expectations. The images are blue, and white - no other colours, just different shades and use of blue with white for structure. They show simple images, sometimes shapes, sometimes things you’ll recognise, and sometimes just a whisper of recognition. The name of the card is on the card which also really gets you thinking about how the image relates to the card. For the minor arcana, there are symbols used for each suit which is also helpful. It’s a brain workout for sure - and a challenge for your intuition - which is brilliant.

The foiling on the cards is great - particularly given the strict colour palette used - it makes sure that you still get a magical pop in some way during your reading.

The guidebook is very simple - and each card gets a few keywords and that is it. And for this deck, I think that works really well. You get to fill in the gaps!

This is a special deck - clearly a labour of love, and unique in its delivery - I hope you take the opportunity to cherish it, stretch your intuition with it and love it like I do.

Sometimes we just need a little bit of playful joy in our readings - and this deck surprised me with how satisfying and beautiful a reading can be.

This super cute deck by Alyson Davies is unassuming - in a white box with simple illustrations - you might not realise the colour punch it is waiting to deliver when you look at the cards. Especially the card backs and edges - silver foiling that shoots rainbows in the right light - wow!

The illustrations are simple (almost childlike in style) but colourful, and evoke their own energy. People in the cards don’t wear clothes, which absolutely fits the ‘Earth Child’ aesthetic. A daily single card pull with this deck would provide revelations and colour bursts galore - and sometimes that’s all we need to motivate us through the day.

The guidebook I found to be fascinating because the card meanings are not always purely aligned to traditional interpretations - different perspectives on the same system. Astrological indications, great keywords and a thought provoking blurb - absolutely perfect!

This is a deck that would normally not be on my ‘must have’ list - but as a number of decks have taught me over the years, don’t make assumptions, give it a go and then make a call. And boy, you’ll be glad when you give this deck a chance.

Well well well - look who dressed up for a third outing into the world! The beautiful Botan tarot just got the most amazing makeover - and she is dressed to impress!

I love the blue/indigo version of the Botan tarot (I think that will always be my ‘vision’ of the ideal colour palette for this deck), but my goodness, this Akane edition (deep red colouring with gold foil outlines - for the box, guidebook and deck backs - and deep red edging) - holy smokes, when this deck arrived, it took my breath away. Absolutely gorgeous - and although I love the indigo version, this one feels just as perfect too!

The card stock used for this deck is slightly different to the 2nd edition - they feel amazing, and aren’t as thick - so the box is slightly smaller than the 2nd edition as the cards aren’t as thick.

The Botan tarot has a really ethereal feel and the illustrations are absolutely divine. When I read with this deck, it’s often quite gentle but with a straight up message (which I love). I feel like this deck is even more direct with its strong colouring - and I get a sense of luck and play with this deck too. I’ve enjoyed using this version of the deck - it feels very special - and it is special given it is a limited edition version.

So, whether you already love the Botan tarot or you’re just noticing it now as the amazing Akane edition, this deck is a stunner and would be a stand out deck to have in any divination deck collection.

Every version of the ‘Coastal Curiosities’ oracle deck is fantastic - and this latest version is no exception. If you’re familiar with other editions of this deck, this is a worthy variation on the theme and so appropriate given the subject matter - naturalist edition indeed!

This beautiful deck is not only a feast for the eyes but a balm also. The pastel and lighter colours (with a formal/antique feel), the texture of the cards (the teal colouring of the backs - dreamy!), the box design (gorgeous) and the familiar illustrations and on-point meanings - they all combine to provide a wonderful experience whether you pull one card or many. The guidebook is awesome too - like you’re on an expedition to seek out the plants and animals illustrated on the cards - and referring to a text book of facts about each card. So cool.

I am so honoured to be able to stock the 2nd edition of this fantastic deck. This 2nd edition is mostly the same as the 1st edition - all I’ve noticed are a few colour enhancements to the box and card colours, and maybe a few wording changes in the guidebook. But in essense, it is the same beautiful, deck. So my introduction to the 1st edition is absolutely still relevant for this 2nd edition - so here it is:

Every now and then, a deck comes along with a depth of feeling and resonance that surprises you - almost to the point where you can’t believe it actually exists. Folkloric Forest Tarot is one of those decks for me. The whole experience from the simplicity of the tuck box (normally not a fan of tuck boxes but this one is so good - and easy to open!), the superb and informative guidebook (wouldn’t expect anything less from Lennox Rees (the deck creator)) and the deep forest green edges (like a greeting) from the cards - and that’s before you’ve even looked at the card artwork. It’s unreal.
The forest aesthetic is something I’ve grown up admiring - the whimsy, the life, the death, the smells, the danger, the cycle of life I guess. And the beauty of it all. The artwork on these cards captures it all. Lennox has an amazing eye and collates meaningful visuals that really help you to interpret the cards deeply - even before you’ve looked at the guidebook.

I am so excited that this is the first in a potential series of decks in this style - make sure to follow Lennox for updates, card previews etc.

I am a ‘water’ girl through and through - I’m a Cancer sun, my sister, cousins and I were known as being ‘water babies’ when we were growing up, I used to swim competitively, and these days I need to be around water or be able to get to water regularly. So when I knew Lennox was going to be creating a series of Folkloric decks, and one of them was going to be ‘Waters’ - I could not wait!

And this deck does not disappoint - blue edging (OMG), the same tuck box design (gorgeous), a wonderful guidebook, the back of the cards is perfect and the card art - like the Folkloric Forest - so thought provoking, emotional, beautiful….PERFECT. I enjoyed taking photos of the deck in one of my favourite ‘water’ places, and she absolute shines in that environment!

These decks had a bit of a journey to make to get to me (after being ‘lost’ initially on their shipping journey - aargh - you can imagine my panic hahaha!), so if you manage to snap up one of these beauties, you are a lucky ‘fish’ - seriously!

The Coastal Curiosities Oracle deck was my first introduction to the amazing work of deck creator Lennox Rees. I had worried that I might not connect with the cards given they represent elements of nature from the Pacific Northwest (rather than New Zealand or the Southern Hemisphere). Don’t know what I was worried about - when the cards arrived with a pine cone on the back (I am VERY sentimental about pine cones), I knew this deck would mean a lot to me.

I had the standard size deck, but yearned for a pocket edition that I could travel with easily, and I just knew the illustrations would suit a pocket version of this deck. And wah-la! Enter this little beauty of a deck. All the sass, depth and meaning of the standard deck, packed into a cute and perfect little deck. The colours pop like the original deck, the titles of each card are always insightful, challenging and perfect, and I find myself noticing different things with each card every time I pull them. The texture of the cards makes them slippery and easy to shuffle and I love seeing the mixture of colours when you fan out the cards. This deck makes my heart sing every time I pull the cards out of the little tuck box.

This version of the wonderful Teknebrae tarot is an eye catching stunner! The same card illustrations as the first edition, but this one leaps into the world with a new unique colour palette (check out that bright yellow - so good!), the addition of elemental, planetary, and zodiac associations noted on the cards and a slightly glossier/thicker feel to the cards. This new colour palette really fits this deck SO well.

This deck embraces the aesthetic of a cyberpunk world/environment - it’s a unique offering in the wonderful work of divination decks. I’ve always been drawn to the decks created by James (Pixel Occult). And this deck is fascinating - if you’re into the darker, more mysterious, modern, sharp fashion, underground city life vibe (that we often see in movies like Blade Runner or even, one of my favourites - The Matrix!), you will really love this deck! The card quality is exceptional and like the art captured in the cards, the cards are slick. They are easy to shuffle, and feel great in hand.

The strong symbolism and illustrations evoke clear messages and interpretations (the guidebook is wonderful for that too). I am particularly drawn in by the various characters in the cards - never the ‘same’ character - it really gives the deck so much depth and you can’t help but imagine the story of each person and setting depicted in the cards.

The illustrations are already so cool, but this new palette for V2.0 makes the images come to life even more than the first edition. Both editions feel like a different deck to the other purely because of the colours - different colour, different energy - and I love this! Sometimes when you have the same deck in different colours, there isn’t a distinct difference that gives them their own personality. But each of the Teknebrae decks absolutely bring something unique to the table compared to the other version - I think this shows the potential, flexibility and breadth of purpose that this single deck theme has.

If you take the leap to add this deck to your collection, I’m sure you will be drawn into this world of futuristic cool and find another way to bring another layer of meanings and interpretations into your tarot practice.

This deck embraces the aesthetic of a cyberpunk world/environment - it’s a unique offering in the wonderful work of divination decks. I’ve always been drawn to the decks created by James (Pixel Occult). And this deck is fascinating - if you’re into the darker, more mysterious, modern, sharp fashion, underground city life vibe (that we often see in movies like Blade Runner or even, one of my favourites - The Matrix!), you will really love this deck! The card quality is exceptional and like the art captured in the cards, the cards are slick. They are easy to shuffle, and feel good in hand.

The strong symbolism and illustrations evoke clear messages and interpretations (the guidebook is wonderful for that too). I am particularly drawn in by the various characters in the cards - never the ‘same’ character - it really gives the deck so much depth and you can’t help but imagine the story of each person and setting depicted in the cards.

The black and white colour palette is perfect for this first edition - very strong contrast makes the images pop - the illustrations are already so cool, but the palette makes the images so sharp and angular and definitive (which I enjoy). I have spent so much time just looking at these cards and emersing myself in the world. I love that a deck can do that - like a really great book (or movie!).

If you take the leap to add this deck to your collection, I’m sure you will be drawn into this world of futuristic cool and find another way to bring another layer of meanings and interpretations into your tarot practice.

Oh, Wayward Dark - I do love a darker themed deck…..and when I knew there was going to be a lenormand deck in this theme, I was excited - not gonna lie! And I’m not disappointed at all. If you are familiar with the Wayward Dark Tarot, you’ll know what I’m talking about.

This little deck - with its white, blue and black palette - brings a stylish horror aesthetic to the lenormand structure. Spooky, dark and macabre images bring further insight to the lenormand meanings, I love the linen feel of these cards - shuffling and pulling cards is satisfying and clean/simple.

I’m finding this deck plays well with others - especially decks with a darker theme. It definitely adds another layer to a reading and often in a rather blunt way (which kinda suits the lenormand purpose well).

The guidebook, as with the other lenormand decks by PIxel Occult, is awesome. The text is quite small but the information is great. Playing card (suit) associations are clear for each card in the guidebook and at the top left of every card.

Another wonderful Pixel Occult deck to add to the MoonAmaia collections - and wow, it’s a beauty!

In the imagery of the Wayward Dark Lenormand are the archetypes and symbolism of a Lenormand deck, mirrored and modified into a chthonic underworld evoking the beautiful and the macabre. The deck has a limited palette of whites and blues on top of black backgrounds, giving every unique card a consistent look with the rest of the deck. Underworld themes introduced in the Wayward Dark Tarot continue throughout this deck which could be used as a companion deck alongside it, or it can stand on its own as a fully functional Lenormand deck.

The Wayward Dark Lenormand includes the standard 36 cards found in Lenormand. To provide additional representation, some of the cards have added humanoid figures in them so that a querent may optionally use them as extra signifiers. I love a colourful deck, but I have a special place in my heart for a great black and white deck. Without the extra layer of colour, the meaning and interpretations are almost laid bare - making it such a powerful and insightful divination tool.

This deck is the indie version of the Star String Tarot (2nd edition) - there has been a mass market version released recently via US Games and it’s gorgeous! But it is not the same edition as this one (and there is a price difference as a result also).

For me, the illustrations contained in this deck are absolutely amazing; simple, but beautiful and meaningful. Nature features heavily in the art. I love the concept of the deck - sharing the common thread (‘string’) of anatomy, nature and the cosmos - an ecosystem in which we all exist and experience life. So cool, and true!

The cards are one of my favourites to shuffle, and they are edged in black - so stylish. And the backs are gorgeous too.

The deck comes with a little guidebook - meanings and interpretations are key words which are helpful, but I think the card illustrations give you the freedom to intuitively interpret the cards too (which I love).

Such a cool deck - and one that I’m going to be reaching for on a regular basis - I just know it!

The deck is an interpretation of the Rider Waite Smith deck, so it's designed to be accessible and easy to read for beginners.

As a collector, I gotta ‘catch ‘em all’ - so as soon as I knew the talented Eric Maille (creator of the Ink Witch tarot and the Endless Oracle - as well as many other decks!) was going to be creating the Endless Tarot, I knew I would be getting my hands on this deck as soon as it was available. As I think I mentioned with the Endless Oracle (the Endless Tarot continues the same pleasing format and art style of the Endless Oracle), the artwork is so unique and beautiful, and having the (sometimes recognisable) settings now applied to the tarot format is such a dream. I know I’m going to love having an oracle and tarot deck in this fantastic aesthetic - what a combo!

A very small thing that I particularly noticed is that the guidebook for this deck now fits in the box with the deck. Could this be any more perfect (says the reader with OCD who likes a tidy display of decks whenever possible - ha ha!).

For those who already love the Endless Oracle, the Endless Tarot would create a great pairing with the Endless Oracle and a wonderful opportunity to explore the use of both decks together to create even more intuitive stories and deeper meaning in readings.

I took the photos used in this listing by a body of water - and the deck looks so stunning against it - I definitely get strong Water vibes from this beautiful (blue) deck. Stunning.

Part of the joy of collecting divination decks is ‘the search’ - keeping an eye out for amazing decks that resonate with you. Sometimes you get to find them, and sometimes you don’t. This deck felt like it may not be a deck I’d have the privilege to own when I first discovered it - the classic ‘out of print’ deck - aargh! But as luck would have it, I couldn’t believe that there was a Kickstarter set up to reprint it. You’d better believe I jumped onto that Kickstarter immediately!

I wasn’t sure how I would feel about this deck - I knew that I loved the look, vibe and art of the deck - but that doesn’t always result in a deck that you love reading with. This deck blew me away as soon as I picked up the box. Slightly larger cards and box, there is an almost comforting weight to the package. The box itself is a piece of art - I think I spent the first 5 minutes with the deck looking at the box ha ha! So beautiful.
The guidebook is awesome - I love the gold foil on it (and I love that it starts to come off after use - a sign that it gets used (is loved) a lot!). The interpretations of the cards are really cool - like little stories on their own, relating nature to the meaning of the card. This really resonated with me and even if I had an idea of what a pulled card meant, I would still read the guidebook to add to that interpretation.
And the cards, these beauties are sturdy (and quite shiny/reflective)! The detail of the art - on the back of the cards and the main art on the cards - unbelievable. The colours, the (muted) gold edging (I love it!), every detail (intricate) - beautiful. And the size of the cards give the art even more of a stage to fill. Shuffling could be a bit tricky for smaller hands - but be patient. You could just spread the cards - the cards are smooth, the perfect amount of slippery to make sure the movement of the cards is easy and able to be controlled.

This deck is such a joy to use - and I tend to seek it out when I need to dive into the detail of an issue, when the intricacy and beauty of a deck adds to the experience of the reading. A deck that keeps on giving on so many levels - if you give it a chance!
