Guiding Principles
Accessibility
As a fellow collector, one of my key goals with MoonAmaia is to find ways to make these treasures more accessible for all of us, but particularly those of us living in the Southern Hemisphere. Although online purchasing is much easier these days, the costs involved in shipping items (especially to New Zealand) can be a deal breaker. I hope to reduce the barriers to purchasing some of these amazing products for those of us on this side of the world.
Supporting Talent
I am passionate about supporting products that I have used and love already. On the other side of these products are hard working, talented people supporting themselves and their families with their talent - I want to support and contribute however I can.
My Favourites
If I haven’t used it, I won’t be selling it. I only sell items that I have found and used myself and absolutely love.
Quality not Quantity
Having a lot of one thing is not necessarily a good thing (unless its a lot of crystals ha ha!). Here, you will often see that items listed here are of high quality and low volume. Many will be one of a kind (OOAK) treasures too. Its not a priority to stock a lot of the same item, and sometimes it actually won’t be possible - and this is o.k.
Like a halo around the moon…
Surround yourself with magic
Our logo, our purpose
A moon, but a half moon - representing the constant movement and changing of the lunar cycle - encouraging transformation and growth. We always seek ways to grow, improve and move forward.
In addition, this particular moon phase represents the transition between light and dark - we all have both light and dark aspects of ourselves, and need to focus on both in order to grow and evolve.Amaia means ‘halo’ or ‘lunar rainbow’ in Maori. A halo around the moon.
When I read tarot cards or make a mala or hold a crystal or cleanse my working space, I feel the same sort of magic that happens when I look at a halo around the moon or spot a shooting star or see an amazing sunset or a stormy wind swept beach or a brightly coloured flower. Our connection to nature when we create magic is something to experience, explore and appreciate. The halo is represented by two separate koru, encircling the moon - koru represent new beginnings, new growth, rebirth, new ideas and constant movement. The two koru also seem to embrace and bring together a community of like minded people - with common purpose and intention.
The colours of the logo are red, white and black - strong, primary, striking - and used often in Maori art and artefacts.
