Obsidian Oracle (Black Edition)
Smaller sized decks are fantastic - they are easy to travel with, super simple to shuffle and for me are like a little secret waiting to be revealed.
It’s taken me a long time to list these decks and I don’t know why that is - am I a hoarder? Possibly. But yay, finally these beauties are being brought into the light ha ha!
I backed the original Kickstarter for this indie deck by Megan Buccere (Guidebook by Trish Sullivan) - this is the second edition which is the Black edition. The Black ‘foil’ is something special - I’ve not seen this on decks before - especially on a black coloured deck (the card backs are stunning). I absolutely love it - again, like a secret that is only revealed in certain light.
The cards are black and this highlights the beauty of the art on them - they are simple illustrations, not sharp or detailed but colourful, and beautiful. There are representations (and sometimes combinations on each card) of things from nature, crystals, moon cycles…..although there is also a fun Unicorn floatie and macaroons card too. The meanings of the cards (by Trish Sullivan) are wonderfully described and provide depth and food for thought for each card. The guidebook is just text but is fantastic.
I also find that I can pair this deck with a lot of decks because it is black - black goes with everything I find, so this is definitely an advantage of this deck.
Of note - I backed this deck via Kickstarter so you get an extra card (total 61 cards in this deck - normally it would be 60 cards) - Beetle and Selenite - one of my fav cards from the deck! The meaning is in the guidebook too.
If you’re wanting a deck that looks beautiful, is a little dark, a little fun, a little secretive, and….a little little (ha ha), this is the deck for you!
