Transient Light Tarot
I recently discovered the art of Ari Wisner while looking around for tarot decks online (as you do!). When I saw the Trinity Tarot and this deck, the Transient Light Tarot, I knew these would be an amazing addition to the MoonAmaia deck collection. Simple clear illustrations, with unique interpretations for the cards. The guidebbook is great too - with the bonus of having poetry for each major arcana card and for each suit. This tarot deck is wonderful. It comes in a robust textured box, and there is a skull on the box (so of course I love it!). There are three extra cards in the deck (Past, Present Future) which you can use for three card readings (I love this concept!). A dream to shuffle, and looks amazing, what more could you ask for?

CREATIVE APPROACH:
Especially after a year of loss, change, grief and opportunity for everybody - we've been prompted to consider the more important things, and how to make new beginnings. Letting this spirit of growth within us take the lead in our life shifts the focus from the darkness of loss to the beauty of transience. If we have a spark from the universe within us, what a deliciously brief life this is!
I want to tell the stories of polarity, sustainability and transience in the cards - especially the cards that have twins (like the High Priestess & The Hierophant, The Lovers & The Devil). I've drawn inspiration from personal experiences and symbols - attributing each suit to a symbol: Flowers for Wands, Butterflies for Swords, Plants/Trees/Fruit for Pentacles and Various types of containers for Vessels.
POETRY:
I'm honoured to have invited my good friend and poet, Fausta Joly, to collaborate with me in the writing of the guidebook. As well as feeding into the card descriptions, Fausta wrote 29 bespoke poems for the Major Arcana and to introduce each realm.
GENDER, SEXUALITY, ETHNICITY and BODY DIVERSITY
How people are represented in the tarot is important to get right - I truly want everyone to be able to see themselves in the cards, regardless of their gender identity, sexuality, ethnicity or body. Traditionally, the tarot has been white, straight, and gendered in a strict binary. For this reason, I have renamed traditionally gendered cards but preserved the characters they represent. I have reduced how much the human body is used as an image, favouring objects and elements to depict characters and themes. Polarities are so important - but they are not categories for people, but a reminder of the vast diversity that stands between them!
Gender Neutralised Major Arcana:
The Empress ~ The Nurturer
The Emperor ~ The Defender
The High Priestess ~ The Revealer
The Hierophant ~ The Proclaimer
The Hanged Man ~ The Hanged One
All other cards traditionally associated with a gender have been visually represented without gender too. For example, The Magician, The Hermit, The Lovers)
Gender Neutralised Court Cards:
King ~ The Crown
Queen ~ The Keepers
Knight ~ The Champion
Page ~ The Apprentice
Let me know if you have any questions!
Much warmth,
Ari Wisner
